Improve Your Building Energy Rating (BER)

There are a number of ways to improve your BER rating. The following are indicative recommendations:

• Lighting: Install energy efficient light bulbs throughout the home.
• Heating: When replacing the central heating boiler install an energy efficient boiler. Improve boiler control by installing room thermostats.
• Insulation: Insulate the floor, walls and attic effectively.
• Windows or Doors: If replacing windows or doors install energy efficient versions.
• Draught Proofing: Reduce heat loss around windows and doors by fitting draught excluders.
• Hot Water Cylinder: Reduce water heat loss by lagging your cylinder.
• Renewable Energy: Install renewable energy systems.
